It was your typical crush-turned-love with us, meeting in the high school quad. I saw her as beautiful and she saw me as mysterious (I usually ran solo, preferred books over sports or class gatherings). We had a few classes together which absolutely helped our relationship grow, but the hard part came at graduation.
We both applied for different collages, and in very different cities (40 miles apart). The saving miracle was my dad's truck which he has let me use (even till today!), which I employed as often as possible to go and visit. The most nerve racking situation came again at university graduation.. where I decided to propose during a celebratory dinner at the fantastic Orange Hill Restaurant's terrace.
It 'just so happened' to coincide with the fireworks with Disneyland at the exact moment I took her outside and took a knee. The results were well worth waiting through two graduations.
Since then, we've made it through the storms and the clear weather, and 12 years (since we became a couple, married for 4) of growing together, falling in love, and beatings the odds!
Hey everyone! So, yes, this is going to be a bit cheesy and also a fairly funny story about how my parents met. They have just recently celebrated over 30 years of marriage, and continue to be each other's partner in crime. Interestingly, but not so interestingly, they met at a party! Of course, this was a "set up" type of date, in which the two young adults knew "of" one another but neither knew much on a personal level, nor had they discovered yet what the other looked like. While my dad did know my mother's name, he did not know much else besides the fact that she was Chinese. While the party continued on, and my mother waited patiently for my father to approach, my father found himself in a bit of a situation. While he did note the presence of my mother, he also noted the presence of another Chinese woman with similar features and stature. So instead of asking someone who was who, he decided not to talk to either one of them the whole night! This was out of both foolishness and fear.
You might be asking yourself, so just how did my father end up with my mother in the end? Well, it took some time and a very long apologetic phone call to clear up the issue. My father managed to track down my mother's number and fortunately, she picked up. He explained his utter confusion and apologized for the rudeness. They ended up talking for hours surprisingly! Next came their first official date and the rest, well you should know, is history...
