THE LOOP
Alex

Ad-VAN-ture.

I moved to California in a van that I bought for $900 packed with only the essentials: my bed, motorcycle, collection of records, and some clothes. I did not have a job lined up, I only knew where I'd be living, and although it was unorthodox it was one of the greatest times of my life. Along the 3000 mile journey I stopped at Shawnee National Forest (IL) which spans 289,000 acres, Kansas City (KS) to watch the Royals beat the Rays, Idaho Springs (CO) the location where this photo was taken!, Moab (UT) where I saw some of the most unique rock structures in the world, and Yosemite National Park (CA) which needs no explanation, you just need to go there to see the valley for yourself.
Not only do road trips take you to new places, but there are also many unexpected experiences along the way. I hope this inspires you to get out and take a road trip of your own, whether it be 50 miles down the road or 3000 across the country.

O, The Places We Will Go!

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..." -Dr. Seuss

When I graduated high school my mother gave me Oh, The Place You'll Go by Dr. Seuss. This seemed strange to an 18 year old who had just completed his public education. As I get older, I see more and more what my mother was trying to tell me. We all have the ability to push ourselves further and harder. Life is our adventure, and sometimes it will be scary or wacky, but if we trust ourselves, work hard, and have a little luck we can dominate anything. This could be working harder in the warehouse, getting outside ones comfort zone, or even just taking an extra second to make your work that much better. Oh, the places SlideBelts will go with all of us propelling it together. Here's to a great start of 2018 and to an even better year than ever before.

“And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.) KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS! So... be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea, you're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way!”  -Dr. Seuss

It’s the little things

Take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves. Most of you have heard that phrase before, right? Did you ever stop to think about what it really means? What are the little things? What are the big things? And, how do the big things take care of themselves?

Let me put this into a sports lingo so I can explain it right:

You have control over your attitude, your spirit, your passion, your hustle and your effort. The bigger things are not in your direct control. Don't concern yourself the way the other team is performing. You can't control the crowd, the coaches, or your teammates.  Keep your mind and body focused on only the items that you can control and that you need to perform. When you execute the little things to perfection, then the score and the victory will take care of themselves!

Happy Friday Team!
