Living in Sacramento gives me a geographical advantage not a lot of other places have. There are countless sought after destinations that people from all around the world travel to experience, yet I live only a couple hours away. Lake Tahoe for instance, is one of the most famous lakes in North America. There aren't many places quite as beautiful as the Tahoe area, especially during the winter. The photo above was taken while snowshoeing up to Maggie's Peak (8,477') this past weekend. The view from the top overlooks Emerald Bay (the most photographed place in Lake Tahoe) and gives you a 360 degree view that is definitely worth the effort.
Lake Tahoe Facts:
-Lake Tahoe is the nation's second deepest lake (1645' deep).
-Lake Tahoe is estimated to be about 2 million years old.
-Lake Tahoe is fed by 63 tributaries. These drain an area about the same size as the lake and produce half its water, with the balance entering as rain or snow falling directly on it.
Living so close to this rare geographical location, alongside so many others, makes me want to take advantage of the weekends, fully experiencing what is so close.
