Happy 4TH of July EVE!

As you know tomorrow is July 4TH!, and that means fireworks, lake days, river floats, good friends, family, AND of course remembering that on the 4th of July 1776, we as a country adopted the Declaration of Independence and became the United States of America!

I always love celebrating this day because there is so much energy and happiness in the air, everyone getting together and celebrating our history (the good and the bad) as one country. Here's to celebrating the 4th of July! I hope yours is LIT.

Fun Holidays For All

When someone says Holiday most people think of the big ones, like Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and so on. The cool thing is that there is something celebrated or recognized almost everyday of the year! Now most of these days are not federal holidays, or even recognized holidays, but they are still fun to celebrate. I just wanted to take some time to share some of my favorite events that are happening this month below:

  1. July 1st - International Joke Day
    1. While the origins of this holiday have been lost, one can assume that the creators envisioned mass laughter. Best way to celebrate is to tell a joke or two.
  2. July 2nd - World UFO Day
    1. Also celebrated on June 24th, this is an awareness day for people to gather together and search the skies for UFO. This day also commemorates the “supposed” crash of the 1947 Roswell UFO Incident.
  3. July 3rd - International Plastic Bag Free Day
    1. International Bag Free Day is an unofficial holiday that promotes environmental conservation by encouraging people to reject plastic bags. The holiday also raises awareness of the harm that plastic bags do to nature and to animals and marine life.
  4. July 5th - Workaholics Day
    1. The unofficial holiday raises awareness about the fact that all work and no play can be harmful to the mental and physical health of workers. The day encourages workaholics to make lifestyle changes so that they give other aspects of their lives as much importance as their work.
  5. July 7th - Tell the Truth Day
    1. This holiday encourages people to, of course, tell the truth, even if it is often inconvenient and hard. Sometimes celebrated on April 2nd, the day after April fools, this unofficial holiday is just a fun reminder to keep it real and honest.
  6. July 14th - Pandemonium Day
    1. The word pandemonium comes from English poet John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost, where Pandemonium is the capital of Hell. This unofficial holiday encourages people to look at their chaotic life and try to make changes for the better.
  7. July 20th - Space Exploration Day
    1. This annual holiday commemorates the anniversary of the first manned mission to the moon. On July 20th, 1969, American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to step foot on the surface of the moon. (Or a closed set in Hollywood, depending on what you believe.)

These fun celebrations are usually more fun then anything, but still can have a positive effect on you. If you ever get curious about some fun holidays, feel free to check out Forkast.com and Timeanddate.com. Both sites have some fun official and unofficial holidays for all to enjoy!

How to Assemble Your SlideBelts Ratchet Belt

You just received your first SlideBelt and you are so excited that you "just can’t even" right now! Before you can sport your new favorite belt, you need to get it set up so it’s a perfect fit every time. No need to fret, because to set up your new SlideBelts ratchet belt is as easy as 1-2- 3.
.
1. The first step is to cut your leather strap to the best fit. Using the size markings on the belly of the leather, find your current pants size and add two inches just to be safe. Using some kitchen scissors, make your cut. If it is still a little big, you can always cut more.
.
2. Now, the second step is to attach your buckle. On the underside of the buckle you will see a “trap door” with teeth on it. All you need to do is slide the cut end of the leather into this “trap door” and clamp it shut. This will take some force, as we want to be absolutely sure that the leather will stay attached to the buckle.
.
3. Lastly, you'll place the belt around your waist (or wherever, we don’t judge) and slide the tapered end of the leather through the opening on the front of the buckle. You will hear the SlideBelts dual-lever ratchet mechanism engage, tightening your belt in ¼” increments.
.
Now you have your first SlideBelt put together and ready, and we couldn’t be prouder! With everything that you already accomplished today, you might as well just go to bed. It’s probably not going to get any better than this. On a more serious note, if you want to cut the leather a bit shorter, just use SlideBelts' buckle removal tool to easily open that “trap door”. This makes swapping different buckles and straps even easier than before. Feel free to show SlideBelts your style on Instagram by tagging @SlideBelts or using #SlideBelts. Slide On, my friends!
