Wow, going down memory lane! My first official job was working as a soccer coach for Kidz Love Soccer. A close friend and I were hired on to coach and teach youth soccer classes in a fun and exciting way! Whereas my friend had numerous years of experience of playing soccer, I had only ever played in a youth league when I was very little and was lacking considerably in soccer skills. Before starting my friend trained me and got me up to speed on technique and skills to where I felt comfortable enough to teach it. Once we started teaching our classes I had to learn and adapt to each age group by creating or changing different activities so they would be easy for the students to learn the skills correctly and enjoyably. It was definitely a challenge, but it was very rewarding to see the excitement on the students' faces when they finally mastered the exercise! I learned A TON about adapting and changing to different situations and how to communicate with different age groups. It was a lot of responsibility for my age and in looking back now, it was a great first job experience!
