The Art of Bonsai

Bonsai is the Japanese art using a combination of various techniques in order to grow and style a tree with the goal to miniaturize it. Bonsai trees are is not a tree species or a genetic disorder, in fact any tree can be used to grow a bonsai. The components that make a tree a bonsai tree are age, naturalness, and proportions. The ultimate goal of bonsai is to create a realistic depiction of nature.

Yellowstone

The past several days have been very eventful because I got to go to Yellowstone National Park, which has been on my bucket-list for awhile now! My friends and I started off great with taking a dip in the hot springs and then going ATV-ing. Day two we hiked off the beaten path (aka bush-whacked) through the Grand Canyon Of Yellowstone to go fishing in the river. Day three was filled with sightseeing. We got to see the Canyon Falls, Norris Geyser Basin and the Grand Prismatic Spring. We saw lots of wildlife; bison, elk, moose, even an otter in the river, but (sort of luckily) no bears. But probably one of my favorite memories was on our way back to our cabin a heard of bison started coming down the road along the side of the car. With such a big heard it was a little scary, especially when they started running, but it was definitely an awesome experience to remember. If you don’t get the chance to go someday, I highly suggest at least finding a great spot outdoors that you enjoy, just to get a break from technology and appreciate the awesome nature around us!
