Disc Golf and Ice Cream

Disc Golf and Ice Cream. You’re probably wondering what Disc Golf is and how Ice Cream could be a hobby, allow me to enlighten you.

So Disc Golf is basically golfing but with a plastic disc (not to be confused with a frisbee) and a metal basket.(See Below). Funny story, I actually disliked Disc Golf for the longest time, it was super frustrating because I didn’t play very often, and when I did my disc never went where I wanted-so I’d inevitably be tromping around in bushes searching high and low for my disc just so I could throw it another 20 feet haha. But, Grant LOVES disc golf, that’s what we did on our first date, and he plays several times a week, so by default I play too. I’m starting to throw further and control my throws a little better, but I still relate to this little guy in the gif most of the time.

Ice cream is a wonderful compliment to an outdoor hobby in the summer, Grant and I just got an ice cream maker and we make ice cream quite often, we started experimenting with different flavors and it’s so much fun! We’ve done Birthday Cake Oreo, Biscoff Cookie Butter, Reese's Peanut Butter, and Cake Batter flavors to name a few. :) I’m always open to new suggestions for flavors, it gives me an excuse to eat ice cream. ;)

Have a fantastic Thursday, Team!

Little Things

To be entirely fair I’ve had some truly awesome summers. From spending whole days on the beach in southern California to midnight light-saber battles with my siblings; I gotta say summer is that season that never disappoints for great memories. But I think the absolute best was last summer. My sister had randomly asked me if I wanted to join her and her family at the lake. I thought it was a great idea because I was upset. I don’t remember why I was feeling down, but I welcomed the break. We meet up at Safeway got some Starbucks and essentials; then we were off. She had the best spot picked out and our children had a blast. Water was the right temperature and we were thoroughly engrossed in the silly conversations that were had. I can’t put my finger on why this was the best summer memory. It might have been because I had gotten a good amount of sun and the best tan of my life, or it could have been because my children had the best time running around the shallow water in their life vest, It could have even been the easy conversation flowing because at that moment in time; for those few hours all that mattered was the people, the laughs, and the water.

Basically, remember rule 32#: Enjoy the little things.

San Diego Comic Con

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I have written one of these so bare with me a little bit. Any of you who have talked with me for any extended length of time probably know that I am a big fan of "nerd culture" and about 5 or 6 years ago my wife and I had the pleasure of going to the largest "nerd" event of the year.

It is one of my favorite summer memories of all time. That being said, even getting tickets is no easy task (I have tried every year since and failed). We drove and that took forever, even driving through LA sucks.

Once you get there, it is packed and way bigger than you think it will be. There is a ton to see and do. Seeing people who you know from every show and movie you like is pretty cool, but my favorite memory is definitely walking through the artists booth and walking past a little 10x10 booth dedicated to a relatively obscure Alice in wonderland comic. It was small and unassuming, we almost walked right past it until Sarah caught it at the last minute. The thing about this comic is that it is one of Sarahs absolute favorite series. When we stopped to talk to the guy manning the booth we realized almost immediately that it was the artist and creator for the series. The whole interaction was really cool, he was really nice, we bought a bunch of stuff and he signed all of it. Overall it was an amazing experience and if you enjoy movies, comic books, video games or television, I could not recommend going enough.
