Food + Routines = Sanity

What am I doing to stay sane? Well for me, staying home and being quiet isn’t straining, because it’s not very different from my preferred routine. But something that keeps me oriented is maintaining my usual schedules. I still wake up at least an hour and a half before work to drink my coffee, eat breakfast, do my hair/makeup, etc. I still workout after work. I still meal prep on Sundays. Dinner is still at 7p. I still dabble in crafts after dinner (like embroidery recently) if I’m not watching a show, and I’m still in bed at 10p sharp.

But for my husband, who is home from work and probably the most extroverted person I’ve ever met, things have been more difficult. So we have found a few new things to do together in lieu of going out. We like to take walks together around our neighborhood, workout together in the nearby park, and have been having virtual happy hours with our far away friends. I even made a pretty sweet charcuterie board for our last one. We’ve also been having “themed” dinners. I’ll make a dish I haven’t made before, and we’ll pick out some beer or wine to go with it. So far I’ve experimented with chilaquiles, miso ramen, and schnitzel. So yeah, the workouts in the park are definitely essential.

Overall I'm enjoying the extra quality time with him since his busy schedule before didn't allow for much of it🙂

Living with Yourself

Living with Yourself is a show on Netflix that I binge watched recently. Staring Paul Rudd and Aisling Bea - Paul plays Miles Elliot, who is burned out on life and love, decides to undergo a mysterious treatment, only to discover that he has been replaced by a better version of himself. If you are deciding which show to watch next, I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch.

How I am staying sane

Let’s see, looking back at last week, I haven’t taken on any new activities but I have definitely devoted more time to the things I already enjoy doing. And lucky for me, I enjoy plenty of things that don’t require me to go outside. For example:

- Baking!🍰 Just last Friday I made some chocolate chip cookies.  I didn’t take any pictures of them but I included some pictures of some of the other goodies I’ve made below.

- DIY projects!🎨 Over the weekend, I did a small DIY project that involved an old bookshelf, empty candles, paper lunch bags (which I used as book covers), a damage cheese board (which I painted), and some picture frames (which I also painted).

- Podcasts!🎧 I’m continuing to listen to some of my favorite podcasts. I’m currently going through “Business Wars” and I’m enjoying each new story so far…just started Starbucks vs Dunkin.

- Netflix!🎥 I’m catching up and binge-watching some shows. I just finished the 3rd season of Ozark and the documentary on the Tiger King.

Aside from that, I am just trying to look at the bright side - no traffic and apparently our air quality is improving due to the lack of pollution. 😊

Can't wait to hear what's keeping you guys sane!
