Progress is Progress...

Progress is progress baby! Any way you look at it. As long as we are making progress we are doing things right. Progress comes in many different forms, from trying to get followers on Instagram and Snapchat to getting one more order out a day,or to answering one more guest service ticket per day or squeezing out every last dollar in our loans.
We all play a our part.
So whatever it is you are doing today, keep making progress! Don't lose sight that you are still moving in the right direction!
Happy Friday!

Dive In!

You’ve been up on that diving board
Making sure that it’s nice and straight.
You’ve made sure that it’s not too slick.
You’ve made sure it can stand the weight.
You’ve made sure that the spring is tight.
You’ve made sure that the cloth won’t slip.
You’ve made sure that it bounces right,
And that your toes can get a grip– –
And you’ve been up there since half past five
Doin’ everything … but DIVE.

 - Shel Silverstein

While working as a children's author and poet, Shel Silverstein gave us works such as The Giving Tree, Falling Up, and Where the Sidewalk Ends. His work is silly and imaginative, but also poignant and relatable. This poem reminds me that in life, excuses will keep you stalled and standing on the "diving board." The only way to prevent that is to dive in!

Stress Set

One of the questions we get a lot from candidates in interviews is “What’s the toughest part about working here?” I like to answer with something along the lines of…

“It can sometimes be a challenge being in a fast paced and agile company, because in every department you have to be able to roll with the punches, and change directions in a moment’s notice. At times you have to be willing to abandon old ways, blaze new trails, or pivot in an instant.”

For some this may come naturally, and for others it may not. If it does sometimes stress you out though, rest easy knowing that a recent study from the University of California, San Francisco found that short bursts of stress can actually be beneficial to us. Just like a muscle, as long as there are rest periods in between, “working out” our stress levels can build the theoretical muscle. This has proven to heighten productivity and attention to detail, acting similarly to bursts of adrenaline, and making us more resilient with every "stress set."

So next time you feel a little stressed, remember three things:

  1. You’re experiencing what not everyone is able to handle, hence why you work here.(yay!)
  2. Your stress workout is getting you theoretically jacked
  3. And finally, you have a whole team of Crusaders on your side to back you up! Don’t be afraid to call for a spotter (;
