Work Hard, Relax Harder

Don't ask me how I came across this video...but what's happening here is that people are getting blown in the face with a leaf blower. I am certain we can all agree that our unique company culture allows us to have a fun and enjoyable workplace. Although we put in a lot of hard work and have fun along the way, sometimes stress is unavoidable and can creep up on us without realizing it. If you ever catch yourself in a stressful situation, know that it is ok to be silly and let loose at times to relieve some of that tension built up overtime. Getting work done is important, but your wellbeing is just as important! Remember to work hard, but relax harder.

Never Stop Discovering

A few years ago in 2009, a chemist by the name of Andrew Smith accidentally discovered a new pigment of blue, called YInMn Blue, in a lab while researching the electrical properties of Manganese substances at high temperatures. The new color has many interesting qualities, such as its chemically stable composition, the fact that it does not fade, and is also non-toxic. Moreover, infrared radiation is strongly reflected, which makes this pigment suitable for energy-saving cool coatings.

There are many exciting uses for the new color that are being tested, but most recently, Crayola decided to release a crayon in the new shade, and is holding a naming contest for it, since YInMn Blue is a little hard to pronounce. You can even vote for the new color name until the end of August. Runners up for the new shade’s name are:

 - Blue Moon Bliss

 - Bluetiful

 - Dreams Come Blue

 - Reach for the Stars

 - Star Spangled Blue

Before the discovery in 2009, the last pigment to be discovered hadn’t taken place since 1802 - which just goes to show that you should never stop exploring -- Never stop pushing the boundaries to what you think you know. Even if it’s a happy accident, sometimes there really are some new things under the sun just waiting to be stumbled upon.

You still have time!

If you haven’t already noticed, the 164th California State Fair has made its way back to Sacramento for its 50th Anniversary at Cal Expo. And as always, the state fair has lined up several special events, including freestyle motocross, a corn dog eating contest, Best of California Brewfest, horse racing, fireworks, and the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Dog Races…that’s right, wiener dog races!! But the fun doesn’t stop there, the state fair also has numerous of specialty foods, concerts, cooking demonstrations, wine and beer competitions, carnival rides, educational exhibits, and a petting zoo. Aside from your SlideBelt, what else could you possibly need?

So, if you find yourself in need of a good time or if you're simply craving some delicious finger-licking food, I encourage you to head on over to the state fair and indulge in some memorable fun. Just make sure to stay hydrated, I’m sure it’ll be a hot one.
