Developing Persistence
The following exercises for building mental strength capability of consistency were adapted from a list provided by psychologist Jonathan Haidt at the University of Virginia:
Persistence and Consistency are hand and hand, the difference is that persistence is continuing on.
Pros:
- Naps can restore alertness
- Naps can enhance performance
- Mistakes and accidents are reduced when people nap
- Naps can relax you
- Naps can give you more energy
Cons:
- Naps can lead to grogginess when you wake from a deep stage of sleep. For people who take longer naps, they can become more disoriented for longer periods.
- Napping for too long can make it harder to sleep at night
- When you nap late in the day, it could make it harder to fall and stay asleep at night
I vote... take naps! (: Short naps.

This past weekend I went back home to visit family. It was a joy spending quality time with my mom, brother, two nephews, and two nieces. It's been on my heart lately to increase my mentoring and attentiveness to my 13 year old and 11 year old nephews as they venture into their teenage years. I never had a male role model to help me navigate those confusing yet defining years so I make sure I do my best to give them what I did not have.
I encourage everyone to take time to appreciate your loved ones and mentor those younger than you whenever you have the opportunity.
